Next?generation sequencing for typing human papillomaviruses and predicting multi?infections and their clinical symptoms

Human papillomavirus (HPV) has more than 100 different types, some of which are associated with cancer. The most common example is that cervical cancer, HPV16 and HPV18. Here, we performed next-generation sequencing (NGS) to type 2436 samples obtained from Korean women elucidate the correlation between multiple infections, virus cytology. NGS revealed types 58, 56, 16 were in high-risk (HR) whereas 90, 54, 81 low-risk (LR) types. incidence atypical squamous cells undetermined significance (ASCUS) or high-grade intraepithelial lesion (HSIL) was 11.45% single-type cases 27.17% infections by two HPV. ASCUS HSIL 29.79% only HR 29.81% mixed high- it 18.79% LR (P ? 0.0001). Co-infection LR-HPV HR-HPV therefore likely cause cell lesions. Collectively, these results show higher greater frequency Thus, predict clinical symptoms, would be beneficial confirm HPV using NGS, although this could relatively expensive.
